Teachers Inspiring Problem Solvers
(TIPS)

What is TIPS ?

Pacific Northwest educators providing mathematics professional development for educators

The vision of Teachers Inspiring Problem Solvers (TIPS) is to work with teachers and students, helping deepen their understanding of mathematics while developing the habits and characteristics of a successful problem solver.

Without exception, Teachers Inspiring Problem Solvers members believe that those students that can apply their mathematics to solving nonroutine mathematics problems have and can demonstrate a deeper understanding of mathematics.

Using problem solving materials aligned to NCTM's Curriculum Focal Points and the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics, or adjusted to align with your states' mathematics standards, TIPS helps teachers teach for depth instead of coverage.

TIPS members are all experts in creating, scoring, and collecting samples of student problem solving work - and teaching others how to do these too.
